Difficult cases and triggers to amputation will be explored by Consultant Vascular Surgeon Mr Mark J Portou at this year’s EDFN National Conference on May 8.
His session will cover:
- Understanding the difference between when limb salvage, amputation and palliation are appropriate
- More limbs involving wounds of greater extremity can be salvaged than previously appreciated. If you don’t try, you’ll never know
- Recognising that despite aggressive attempts, major amputation may be unavoidable, particularly in certain circumstances
Mr Portou is an Honorary Lecturer at University College London, Subspecialty Clinical Lead for PAD, Diabetic Foot and Lower Limb Services, North Central London Vascular Network at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, and European Board Member of the Global CLI Society.
