Healthcare professionals with an interest in multidisciplinary diabetic foot care are invited to attend a clinical masterclass on neuromodulation for neuropathic pain.
The Royal Society of Medicine has opened registration for its annual masterclass, which is set to explore innovative approaches to managing neuropathic pain.
Taking place on Tuesday, May 20, from 5.30pm to 8pm, this interactive forum will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the latest advancements in pain management, with a focus on neuromodulation — a recommended therapy for people experiencing chronic neuropathic pain despite conventional treatment.
Neuropathic pain, commonly caused by diabetes in the UK, results from nerve damage due to prolonged high blood sugar levels.
Neuromodulation, endorsed by NICE, offers relief for people with chronic pain persisting for at least six months, provided they have undergone a successful trial of stimulation.
During the masterclass, an expert panel, featuring specialists in Pain Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Vascular Medicine, will share key insights into current guidelines, real-life patient scenarios, and best practices for treatment.
This masterclass is designed to empower individuals with diabetes and neuropathic pain by fostering knowledge, collaboration, and access to support networks.
Participants will have the chance to connect with peers, healthcare professionals, and researchers, facilitating the exchange of best practices and strengthening collective efforts to reduce the burden of neuropathic pain on individuals and healthcare systems alike.
By attending the masterclass, you will:
- Increase your understanding of current guidelines to treating neuropathic pain and neuromodulation as a treatment method
- Gain insight into implementing best practices to treat patients presenting with neuropathic pain
- Engage with our expert panel by asking thoughtful questions to deepen your understanding and to foster a meaningful discussion.
