A device which uses temperature to assess foot health is the latest addition to the Royal College of Podiatry’s Professionally Approved range.
Podium Professional, from Thermetrix Limited, uses thermography to bolster clinical diagnoses and pathways by detecting areas of concern in a patient’s feet.
The device has recently been added to the RCPod’s Professionally Approved range, which recognises products that improve the life and patient care of its members.
Podium Professional’s early warning system allows clinicians to predict where ulcerations will occur in the feet and take measures to prevent them, and is of particular use when treating those with diabetes.
The device can also be used to detect signs that indicate early stages of Charcot foot and peripheral neuropathy as well as applications in MSK trauma and vascular conditions such as peripheral arterial disease and macro and micro angiopathy.
Natasha Smith, Business Development Manager at the Royal College of Podiatry, said: “I am delighted to welcome Podium Professional to our range of Professionally Approved products.
“The team at Thermetrix has a clear goal of improving lower limb health through detection, prevention and early intervention which aligns with the College’s goals.
Dr Russell Payne, Thermetrix’s Chief Executive Officer, added: “We are proud to receive this recognition from such a distinguished institution. Thermetrix prides itself on producing devices at the cutting edge of medical technology.
“The Professionally Approved status for our flagship product is a testament to our unwavering dedication to delivering products that resonate with the pinnacle of industry standards.”
