‘Foot Ulcer Care for All’ is the focus of one session at the EDFN National Conference, as part of an update from the National Wound Care Strategy Programme (NWCSP).
Speaker Krishna Gohil, Clinical Lead Lower Limb for the NWCSP, will deliver an update from the programme, which published national guidelines on foot and leg ulcer care in 2020 that are currently being updated.
The guidelines provide a clear strategy for managing all foot and leg ulceration. The First Tranche Implementation sites of the programme are playing a significant role in developing models of clinical care to:
- ensure equal provision to all those with foot ulceration, without diluting the current diabetes foot provision
- use evidence-based care for all those with leg ulceration to improve healing rates and reduce recurrence rates.
Krishna is a fellow of podiatric medicine for the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians (Glasgow), an executive member of the Foot in Diabetes UK committee, and a member of the Medicine Committee for the Royal College of Podiatry.
With a passion for education and quality improvement, Krishna is also a senior lecturer in prescribing at the University of Northampton.
